Festival Celebrations

Dashain, the most important holiday of the year, was celebrated in our house again this year. There was good food, dance, music, and moderate weather to make the festival a success. Every year, tika is put on the foreheads of the young ones by the elders who also give blessings. We celebrate this festival as a victory by the truth over the evils.

Similarly, in our Lakeside home, we also observed Tihar, the second most significant festival of them all. The primary point of this celebration is to worship Yamraj (the god of death). The sisters place rainbow-colored tikas on the boys’ foreheads, thanking their brothers for their protection and praying for their longevity.
