Celebrating Nepal’s biggest festivals

We at Namaste Community Foundation celebrated Nepal’s biggest festivals “Dashain & Tihar” at our home in Lakeside, Pokhara, Nepal. Because of the COVID-19 circumstances this year, none of the children were able to visit their relatives (like every year in the past). All of the children celebrated in our home, together with the mummies, uncles, and board members. We prepared delectable food, watched movies on television, and did some fun programs at home.

We celebrated Dashain with the prayers and offerings to Durga, the Universal Mother Goddess. It is a time for family reunions, the exchange of gifts and blessings, and elaborate pujas. Tihar is a 5-day festival which honors the Crow, Dog, Cow, and Laxmi (Wealth goddess) and is celebrated among brothers & sisters.
